Learn how to easily create and manage add-on options for your trips!

Updated over 2 months ago

Do you offer any extra options to your clients, such as airport transfers, massages, additional nights, or surfing lessons? Adding extra options to your trip offer is simple!

Let's say you have already set up a pricing package and a payment plan, and now you want to add an add-on option and create a payment plan.

Go to "My Trips" --> "Edit Trip" and then to the "Pricing" tab in the trip builder. Scroll down to find the "Are you offering add-on options?" section and set up your extras there.

After entering all the details of the add-on option, you will see the option to Add Deposit/Payment Plan. Click on "Yes" to set up a payment plan for it.

Now, you can set how many installments you want and the dates when these installments are due.

If you decide to add a deposit for the add-on it will show up as an Upfront payment, right under the Deposit for the main package. If you do not add a payment plan, the entire amount for the add-on will be shown under Upfront Payment.

Any installments will be added to the installments of the main package if they have the same date or as a separate installment if the dates are different.

After saving the payment plan, you can set the booking deadline for the add-ons. Please keep in mind that your participants will no longer be able to book add-on options after the booking deadline has passed.

After pressing "Publish," you have successfully set up your add-on options! You can always return to your trip builder and adjust the add-on booking deadline or modify the payment plan dates for new bookings if necessary.

What it looks like to your customers:

Customers can purchase add-on options at checkout or later via their booking dashboards.

At checkout:

After booking:

If the payment plans for selected packages and add-ons are on the same date, then we combine the payments for that date in the checkout pop-up.

If there are two packages or add-ons with different payment plan dates, all dates are shown at the checkout with their respective payment amounts.

If the add-on booking deadline has passed, customers will see the following message at the checkout:

FAQ about add-ons and payment plans

Can customers purchase add-ons after the trip is over?

Yes, if you do not set a deadline for the add-on bookings. You can always set the booking deadline for add-ons in your trip builder to prevent any last-minute purchases.

What happens if I do not add a payment plan to the add-on option under the trip builder?

If you do not set a payment plan for your add-ons, participants will be prompted to pay in full for the extra options during checkout. If you are registering your client on their behalf and your clients prefer to defer the payment, you can choose to book the add-on with no payment made yet and the client will pay it at a later date. The default due date for an add-on without a payment plan is the booking date.

How can I register an add-on option on behalf of my client?

You can always purchase additional options on behalf of the participant after checkout by following these instructions.

Can I add or change a payment plan for the client’s add-on option after they have successfully booked?

Yes! If the add-on does not have a payment plan set up on the trip builder, but you want to add it for a participant who has already signed up, you can do that.

If you need to change the payment plan for a participant, go to "My Trips" → "Manage Trip". There, click on "View Payment Plan" in the menu next to the participant (the icon with the three dots). This will bring up the payment plan schedule with a blue button to edit the plan; please click on it.

Here you can edit both the dates, and the amounts of the payment plan. If you would like to edit only the deposit of the add-on, you can change the “upfront payment”.

All the other installments are combined with the main package if they have the same date, and if you would like to separate them, you can change the number of installments and edit the numbers manually.

The amounts will automatically be calculated to be even of the number of installments you selected. This means that if you select any different number of installments, the amounts of all payment plans will be combined.

Add a new plan and save your changes.🎉

Please note that:

  • When you select 'View payment plan', you will be able to see the settings for 'Allow partial payments' and 'Enable auto-billing'. You have the option to change only 'Allow partial payments' or 'Enable auto-billing' without changing the entire payment plan.

  • When clicking on edit payment plan, the prior information will be saved; the amounts and dates will stay the same unless you specifically make a change.

What happens if I need to switch the package for a participant?

If you switch a package for the participant, you will be asked to review and edit the existing payment plan. The participant will be automatically enrolled in the payment plan set up for that new package, and any outstanding add-on balance connected to the new order will be included in the plan.

Will participants get notifications about the changes to their add-on payment plan?

Yes, for transparency we will notify the participants on all changes to the payment plan. In this case the confirmation email for the add-on will have the new payment plan information on it.

If the payment plans for selected packages and add-ons are on the same date, then we combine the payments for that date in the confirmation email. If we have two packages and add-ons with different dates, then all dates are shown in the confirmation emails.

Can I add or edit payment plans for add-ons in bulk?

Once the add-on is booked, it is added to the order and included in the general payment plan. You can bulk edit the general payment plan, including the add-on installments.
