Why does my account have a reserve on it?

Learn more about why your funds may appear as "on hold," and when your account reserve becomes available.

As part of WeTravel's standard account protections, new organizer accounts may have a reserve applied to their payments. A reserve means a percentage of each trip payment is held back temporarily rather than paid out to you right away - it isn't an indication of any issue with your account; it's standard practice across payment providers for accounts that don't yet have an established payment history.

It's especially relevant for travel businesses, since participants often pay for a trip months before it departs. That gap between payment and departure is exactly when a cancellation, refund, or dispute is most likely to come up - the reserve gives you a buffer to cover that risk and protects both you and your participants if a refund is ever needed.

A few things worth knowing:

  • A reserve doesn't limit your ability to take new payments - it only affects when that held portion becomes available to you.

  • It's tied to individual trips and is released once the trip is completed without a dispute, or after a set holding period.

  • Reserved funds are still available to cover refunds to participants if needed.

  • As your account builds a track record of completed trips and clean payment history, we'll review and adjust your reserve.

You can see your current reserve by clicking into any currency wallet in your account.
