How to Embed Your WeTravel Trip in Your Wix Website

Updated yesterday

You can integrate WeTravel booking into your Wix website using several approaches, depending on how your site is built. Because Wix restricts custom HTML and JavaScript embeds on standard pages, the most common and reliable solution is to use a Lightbox to display the WeTravel checkout.

This guide explains the recommended Lightbox setup, as well as alternative solutions for Wix sites that use repeaters, events, or booking-style layouts.

These instructions apply to all WeTravel booking flows (Book Now, Calendar, and Download Brochure). The same logic can be reused for different trips.

💡Important: The standard WeTravel HTML embed code is not compatible when pasted directly into Wix pages. Instead, Wix requires indirect solutions such as Lightboxes or booking URLs.

Before You Begin

For Wix integrations, you will usually use a direct WeTravel booking link rather than the full embed code.

  1. Log in to your WeTravel account

  2. Open the trip you want to embed

  3. Go to Promote → Direct Link

  4. Copy the Trip Booking Link or Payment Link

You will use this link in a Lightbox or as a button link, depending on your Wix setup.

Recommended Solution: Using a Wix Lightbox (Popup Checkout)

This is the most flexible and commonly used solution for Wix websites.

The idea is:

  • A “Book Now” button opens a Wix Lightbox

  • Inside the Lightbox, you display the WeTravel checkout using an embed-compatible block or iframe-style element

  • The Lightbox background is semi-transparent, creating a pop-up checkout experience

Step 1: Create a Wix Lightbox

  1. Open your Wix Editor

  2. Go to Add → Interactive → Lightbox

  3. Choose a blank Lightbox

  4. Name it something like “WeTravel Checkout.”

Step 2: Style the Lightbox Background

  1. Click the Lightbox background

  2. Set the background color to gray or black

  3. Reduce opacity to create a semi-transparent overlay

  4. Ensure the Lightbox is centered

This gives the appearance of a modal checkout.

Step 3: Add the WeTravel Checkout Inside the Lightbox

Inside the Lightbox, you have two standard options depending on the Wix editor and site configuration.

Option A: Use an Embed / iFrame element (when available)

  1. Add an Embed or iFrame element inside the Lightbox

  2. Set the source URL to your WeTravel Trip Booking Link

  3. Resize the element to fit the checkout view

Option B: Use a button inside the Lightbox that opens the WeTravel link

  1. Add a button inside the Lightbox

  2. Link the button to the WeTravel booking URL

  3. Set the link to open in the same window

Note: Availability of embed elements may vary depending on the Wix editor version and plan.

Step 4: Link Your “Book Now” Button to the Lightbox

  1. Select your main “Book Now” button on the page

  2. Click Link

  3. Choose Lightbox

  4. Select your “WeTravel Checkout” Lightbox

  5. Save changes

Alternative Solution: Using a Direct Booking URL (No Lightbox)

In some Wix setups, the Lightbox approach may not be ideal or necessary.

You can link directly to WeTravel if:

  • You want a more straightforward setup

  • You are okay redirecting users to WeTravel

  • Your site uses Wix Events or booking components

Steps:

  1. Select the button or clickable element

  2. Set the link to your WeTravel Trip Booking URL

  3. Choose whether it opens in the same tab or a new tab

  4. Save and publish

Special Case: Wix Repeaters (Trip Cards, Lists, or Grids)

Some Wix sites display trips using Repeaters.

In this case, the solution depends on how the repeater data is managed.

Option A: Static Repeaters

  • Manually assign a different WeTravel booking URL to each repeater item’s button

Option B: Dynamic Repeaters (Connected to CMS)

  • Store the WeTravel booking URL in a CMS field

  • Connect the button link to that CMS field

This allows each trip card to open the correct WeTravel checkout.

Special Case: Wix Events or Booking Features

If your site uses Wix Events or other booking-style tools:

  • Check if there is a Booking URL or External Link field

  • If available, paste the WeTravel Trip Booking URL there

  • Disable or bypass the default Wix checkout if possible

This replaces Wix’s booking flow with WeTravel.

Multiple Solutions, Depending on Your Setup

Wix does not have a single universal solution. Depending on your site, you may use:

  • Lightboxes

  • Direct booking links

  • Repeaters with dynamic URLs

  • CMS-connected buttons

  • Event external booking links

All of these are valid and commonly used.

Preview and Test Your Wix Site

After setting everything up:

  • Preview the site in the Wix editor

  • Publish and test the live site

  • Click Book Now to confirm that the checkout opens correctly

  • Test on desktop and mobile

  • Confirm Lightbox closes correctly

Troubleshooting

If the checkout does not appear:

  • Confirm the button is linked to the correct Lightbox or URL

  • Verify the WeTravel link works on its own

  • Make sure pop-ups are not blocked

  • Check that the Lightbox is not hidden on mobile

  • Try opening the link in the same tab instead of a new one
